Writing Prompt

GRADUATION!!!!

Write about graduation! I don’t care what form you write it in!! I would just like to be creative and write what a graduation reminds you of.

I am actually going to graduate this weekend from college! It is going to be the hardest graduation of my entire educational career!

Can’t wait to see your ideas!

Writing Prompt: Her laughter dies in the darkness…

I thought I would start out with something a little bit out there.

This prompt is a starter for you to think about. You may be inspired to write a story, a poem, or another type of writing, and that is great! I put this year to get some variety! I am looking forward to challenging you to write!

Have fun with this prompt! Challenge a friend to write this with you or by themselves!

I have never started a po…

I have never started a poem yet whose end I knew. Writing a poem is discovering.
-Robert Frost

This quote is one of those interesting phrases by the wonderful Robert Frost. Everything I have read about him, he has always has more insight that I have never thought of. I would have to agree with this quote because I don’t think I have ever written a poem with the end in mind, just the beginning! And the way that I thought the poem would end in the first place did not happen when it was actually finished.

If you would like to know more of his quotes, the website is below!

Writing Tips!

  1. Keep a writing notebook!!! TAKE IT EVERYWHERE!!!!
  2. Along with that notebook- you need a pen! or whatever writing utensil works for you!
  3. NEVER throw any of your writing away- NO MATTER WHAT!
  4. Set aside a time everyday just to sit down and write!

These are the things I have learned over my years of writing, of course there are many more! I want to see what other tips you have! What writing tips work for you?

So many things….

It has been awhile since I have blogged and for that I am sorry. There have been so many things going on in my life it has been absolutely crazy! First there was Christmas, which was the last time I have been on here, wow, it has been a really long time! Then when I got back to school in January we all were thrown right into classes and then sent out Student Teaching. We had 15 weeks!!!! Ten weeks in a Lutheran school and 5 weeks in the public school system.

Of course within in all this time, I have been also planning a wedding which by now is about a month away! Things are coming together well but at the same time, things which should be done are not! Grr is what I have to say to those things!

But something exciting in all this time I have had the chance to see so much creative in children and it has renewed and reminded me how much writing is important. My 6th grade class had writing prompts everyday which they had to write on and as a teacher it was so much fun to see what they would come up with. I was able to teach them about figurative language and also different forms of poetry! I had so much fun and I found out my heart is truly in the arts! I was made to teach literature, poetry, writing, music, drama, and many other things.

I wanted to come back to the blog and continue with putting poetry on here and commenting on it but I think the site is going to take a little turn. What I am going to do from now on is give a writing prompt every day (or at least try). Then I want to see how many people will be able to write on my writing prompts! And don’t worry I will be writing on them as well.

If you do write on the prompts I ask that you either post it as a reply, email it as an attachment or just keep it for yourself as proof you are growing as a writer.

If you would like to email any questions, writing prompts, or your personal writing, I welcome and encourage it! My email is poeticwhispers22@gmail.com

Writing Prompt: What does Christmas mean to you? Or another would be: describe me your favorite Christmas gift without saying what it is until the end of the piece! I hope these two pose an interesting challenge for you!

I am going to try my best to get an entry a week but I cannot promise anything. I am going student teaching next semester!!!! I am really excited because I have 28 children to teach!

Poetry of the Day: Creativity has Run Out

Ok, so I want to warn you, this is a poem I wrote when I was a little sad and frustrated at my Writer’s Block. I tried to write myself out of it, and it worked a little only, I am back in another one.

Creativity has Run Out

My pen has run out of ink
As I run away from my imagination
The pen cap lost somewhere
Causing the ink to dry up
Feeling lost and alone now
No thoughts to help me through
No words to comfort me
Yet no tears have I cried
I have become less of a person
Someone void of creativity
Someone void of imagination
No longer worthy of love or dreams
Just someone going through life
With no creativity

My question is have you ever felt this way? As a writer or reader or anything you do, have you felt that you just lost all motivation? How can you relate to this poem?

Poetry of the Day: A Puzzle Piece

Hello all! I have another piece of mine up today. It isn’t really new but I hope you like it just the same. I am hoping to write some newer things to put up here soon, so if you enjoy my poetry then be on the look out for more to come! 😀

A Puzzle Piece

We all fit in somewhere,
life is like a puzzle.

Each one of us is a piece,
fitting in a two piece puzzle.

When we find our other half,
we complete our puzzle.

But then children come,
adding to our little puzzle.

Everyone is unique,
creating their own life.

Just like a puzzle piece.

My question today is did this poem make you think of anyone or anything? Did I create something many can relate to?

Poetry of the Day: Downpour

Here is another poem of mine! I hope you enjoy it. I will be getting to Poet of the Day again soon, I apologize for that. 😀

Downpour

Outside the sun shines brightly
No cloud takes up the sky
Even the moon shows itself
But inside this prison it’s dreary
Rain comes down in sheets
Causing power outages and flooding
From my eyes it keeps pouring down
Sitting in misery, longing, and desire
Pain comes back to settle in
And the rain keeps on coming
Causing a downpour

Just tell me what you think! I don’t have any specific questions about the poem today.

Katie

I hope that the poetry speaks to you in….whispers
